Getting the Fit Right

Aim for a snug midfoot with about a thumb's width in front of your longest toe. You want zero heel lift when you push off, but enough room for your foot to swell across a long day in the field. Looking After Your Spikes

Check the studs every few games and replace any that have worn down — a worn spike grips poorly and strains the housing. Never walk on concrete, asphalt or clubhouse floors in metal spikes; it flattens the studs and can rip the housings out of the sole. Knock the mud off after every game and dry them naturally, away from direct heat, or the midsole will harden and crack.
