Big Edges. Generous Middle. Unleash the Dark Force.
Some bats reward perfection and punish everything else. Hit the exact spot and it flies; miss by two inches and the ball dies in your hands. That's fine if you're a professional. For everyone playing Saturday grade after a working week, you want a bat that forgives.
The BLAK 222 is built around a genuinely generous sweet spot backed by Grade 3+ English willow and a powerful profile with big edges top to bottom. It's the bat for players who middle it more often than not and want the near-misses to still find the rope.
Bulletproof Benefits
- Grade 3+ English willow: A clear step up in timber quality — straighter grain and cleaner blade that plays in quickly and stays lively across a full season.
- Generous sweet spot: A wide, forgiving middle so shots off the true spot still carry, which matters far more in club cricket than peak performance from one perfect inch.
- Powerful profile with big edges: Substantial edge thickness through the blade turns thick outside edges into boundaries rather than slip catches.
- Pronounced bow: Curvature presents more face at impact, which makes the middle feel larger and helps you keep the ball down through the line.
- Round treble spring handle: Layered sprung cane absorbs impact shock, so a ball into the splice doesn't ring through your hands.
- Hex grip fitted: Arrives ready to knock in and take to the nets.
Three in stock and the 222 is consistently the pick of the BLAK range. It's the model our regulars come back for — once these move we're on DSC's shipping schedule, not ours.

Caring for English Willow
Knock the bat in properly before facing a hard ball — several hours with a mallet, building gradually and rounding the edges. Oil the face, edges and back lightly two or three times a season with raw linseed oil, never the splice or the stickers. Store it flat somewhere dry and out of a hot car boot. Look after it and a Grade 3+ blade will see out several seasons.
Who It's For
Club and grade batters who want a forgiving, powerful bat for weekend cricket, middle-order players who need to score quickly, and anyone who values a big middle over a marginally cleaner face.
