Fast-Paced. Powerful. Precise.
At the top of a willow range the conversation changes. Below it you're buying forgiveness. Up here you're buying response — timber that gives the ball back faster, off a smaller margin, with a sound off the middle that tells you the result before you've looked up.
The BLAK Monza is the top of DSC's BLAK line: Premium Pro Grade English willow, a tier that sits above the numbered grades entirely, cut to the Duckbill profile with thick edges and a reinforced toe, in the range's signature dark livery.
Bulletproof Benefits
- Premium Pro Grade English willow: DSC's top selection, above Grade 1 in their own hierarchy — the cleanest, straightest clefts they press. Fastest play-in, hardest rebound, longest working life.
- Duckbill profile: Extended sweet spot with optimised weight distribution, so premium willow doesn't bring the punishingly narrow middle of a traditional players bat.
- Thick edges: A large hitting area that keeps genuine forgiveness even at the top of the range.
- Thick reinforced toe: Essential protection through the lower blade on a bat at this level.
- Soft, responsive ping: The defining quality of Pro Grade timber — the ball leaves the face at pace without you forcing it.
- Hex grip fitted: Ready to knock in and play.
Three BLAK Monza landing — and Pro Grade is the smallest allocation DSC makes. This is the top of the BLAK range; when these go, the next ones are on DSC's schedule, not ours.

What Pro Grade Means
DSC grade their English willow numerically — Grade 4 through Grade 1 — and then separately designate their very best clefts as Pro Grade. It sits above Grade 1 rather than alongside it. These are the clefts selected before anything else is allocated: straight, tight, near-unmarked grain with the structural consistency that produces the fastest play-in and the hardest rebound. It is the same timber tier professionals bat with.
Mirage, Maverick or Monza — Which?
All three share the Duckbill chassis, thick edges and thick toe. The only difference is willow grade: Mirage Grade 2, Maverick Grade 1, Monza Pro Grade. Shape and feel stay consistent, so you're choosing timber quality rather than a different bat.
Protecting a Pro Grade Blade
Knock in for six to eight hours with a mallet across multiple sessions, rounding the edges carefully, then face throw-downs with an old ball before match use. Fit a toe guard and edge tape from day one — both are trivial next to the bat. Oil lightly two to three times a season on face, edges and back only, never the splice or stickers. Store flat, dry and well away from heat.
Who It's For
Premier grade and representative players, top-order batters facing genuine pace weekly, and serious club cricketers who want the best willow DSC's BLAK range offers.
