Sausage Fingers and Thick Foam. The Old-School Build That Still Wins.
Glove design has chased lightness for a decade, and plenty of modern gloves are now thin enough that a ball which jumps off a length genuinely hurts. Once you've been stung badly, your hands start coming off the handle early — and your batting quietly deteriorates for reasons nobody traces back to the gloves.
The MRF Genius Prince goes the other way. Traditional sausage finger construction with thick foam padding, on a premium sheepskin leather palm. It's a test-match build: heavier on protection than the fashionable alternatives, and the reason players who face genuine pace keep coming back to this shape.
Bulletproof Benefits
- Premium sheepskin leather palm: Soft, tacky and close-fitting from the first innings. Sheepskin moulds to your hand with use and keeps real feel through the handle, where synthetic palms go hard and slick inside a season.
- Traditional sausage finger design: Full-length padded rolls running the length of each finger rather than segmented blocks — no gaps for a ball to find between sections, which is where segmented gloves let you down.
- Thick foam padding: Test-level protection. This is a glove built to absorb a ball that rears off a length, not one trimmed down to save grams.
- Endorsed by Shubman Gill: MRF's Genius line is the range carried by their contracted international players.
- Snug traditional fit: The sausage-finger shape closes naturally around the handle, so your grip stays relaxed and your wrists stay free through the shot.
Five pairs in this shipment, right hand only. The Genius Prince isn't in MRF's current catalogue, so this is existing stock rather than an ongoing line — when it's gone we can't reorder it.

Sausage Finger vs Segmented Finger — What's the Difference?
Segmented or "split finger" gloves use separate padded blocks along each finger, joined by flexible gaps. They bend easily and feel light, but those gaps are a weak point — a ball landing on a joint transmits far more force. Sausage fingers run a continuous padded roll the full length of the finger. They're slightly stiffer and heavier, but there is no gap to find. For players facing genuine pace, or anyone who has already broken a finger, sausage construction is the safer build.
How to Choose Your Hand
Batting gloves are ordered by the hand you bat with, not the hand you write with. A right-hand batter takes right-hand gloves. The pair isn't symmetrical — reinforcement is weighted toward the bottom-hand index finger, the most frequently struck finger in cricket — so ordering the wrong hand puts the protection on the wrong side.
Caring for a Leather Palm
Never leave them balled up damp in a kit bag. After every game, open the Velcro fully and air-dry them naturally away from direct heat — a hot car boot will stiffen sheepskin permanently. Wipe mud off with a barely damp cloth rather than soaking. Looked after, a leather palm softens and improves across a season.
Who It's For
Batters facing genuine pace, players who prefer traditional protection over minimal modern gloves, and anyone who has had a finger stung or broken through a thin pair.
